What to Know Before Buying a Ram 1500

The Ram 1500's interior is the reason half the people who buy one switched from an F-150. It's genuinely better at most price points, especially on the Laramie and above. The problem is that "better interior" has become a selling point dealers lean on to justify pricing that doesn't leave room to negotiate. Know what you're worth paying for before you sit down.

Ram pricing runs from about $38,200 for a Tradesman to $76,400 for a Limited Longhorn with options. The Rebel trim is the one dealers struggle most to keep in stock. When inventory is low on a popular trim, the "market adjustment" line appears fast. I've seen it run $2,900 to $8,500 on Rebels in certain markets. It's negotiable when you're patient.

The Ram finance office is aggressive. They'll pitch Mopar Vehicle Protection, tire and wheel coverage, paint protection, and key replacement in one bundled presentation that sounds like $47 a month. Spread over 72 months that's $3,384, usually for coverage you don't need or can buy cheaper elsewhere. Ask for each product priced out separately. Most buyers who do that walk out without any of them.
